SIF

SIF

A Specialised Investment Fund (SIF) is a SEBI-regulated investment category in India that bridges the gap between traditional mutual funds and Portfolio Management Services (PMS). SIFs require a minimum investment of ₹10 lakh and give fund managers the flexibility to use advanced strategies like long-short equity, derivatives, and dynamic asset allocation.

Key Features of SIFs

Minimum Investment: ₹10 lakh requirement across SIF strategies of the same Asset Management Company

Advanced Strategies: Permits up to 25% unhedged short exposure, sector rotation, and derivative use not allowed in standard mutual funds.

Structure & Liquidity: Available in open-ended or interval-based scheme structures with mutual-fund-like taxation

Rule Restrictions: If partial redemptions drop a non-accredited investor’s balance below ₹10 lakh, the remaining units are frozen pending restoration within 30 days
